Kenwood Corporation is based out of Japan. They mostly manufacture amateur radios and portable audio equipment. They were founded in 1946.

In 1999, Kenwood launched its first product aimed at the computer speaker retail market. They introduced two lines of speakers at that time, the CL-501 and the CL-701 speaker models.  The goal was to provide quality computer speakers at a reasonable price.

The CL-501 was a 2.0 set of speakers that worked well if you just wanted to play some basic music through your computer. They were designed with attractive coverings and had some pretty good sound quality. These speakers were definitely made for the budget-minded computer user who did not put a whole lot of stock into have a great sounding set of computer speakers.

The CS-701 was more designed for the sound enthusiast. This was a 2.1 three-piece set that provided a great sound experience for any computer user. It added in a sub-woofer to carry the nice rich bass tones and provide that bottom-end that was missing in the CL-501 series. Although the sound quality was greatly enhanced with this model, these Kenwood Computer Speakers were still designed for the person who was on a budget and did not want to spend an arm and a leg on computer speakers.

Although we cannot find any official word, it seems that Kenwood has gotten out of the business of making Kenwood Computer Speakers. We have researched this and it seems that the CL-701 series was the last one manufactured. You will be extremely hard-pressed to find these in any marketplace today.

It seems that Kenwood has chosen to focus on other areas they are very popular with such as car audio speakers and receivers. One cool factoid is that they currently make all of the standard audio equipment for the Lamborghini Murcielago. How cool is that!

The Logitech z2300 Speakers are a 2.1 channel. This means you get a total of 3 speakers. Two of the speakers will handle your mids and highs and the sub-woofer will handle the base. Most importantly is these speakers are THX Certified. With them being certified, you know you will get the thumping bass and also the highest clarity in sound. Tack on the 200 Watts of winder-shuddering power and you for sure will be blown away this these speakers.

These Logitech z2300 Speakers also feature something else that is really cool. It is called ‘Phase Plug Drivers’. The goal is to provide much more accuracy with sound reporduction. It is made up of a cone-shaped Phase Plug located at the center of the driver.This results in more accurate highs and mids. The Phase Plug also acts has a heat sink.
